Professional dental cleanings entails

  • Removal of plaque: Plaque an almost invisible or white film that forms on the teeth.  It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva.  The bacteria produce toxins (poisons) that inflame the gums. Left alone, plaque turns into calculus.

  • Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is harden plaque that have been attached to the tooth.. It can be above or below the gum line. Can be removed with special dental instruments.

  • Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.
